The Kaghan Valley is located in Pakistan northeast of Hazara, NWFP province ( now Khyber Pakhtoon Khuwa). It's one of the valleys that's relatively easy to reach from Rawalpindi / Islamabad.
The mountain scenerey, the dales, lakes, water-falls, streams and glaciers are the main reason to come here. The Valley extends for 155 km rising from an elevation of 2,134 meters to its highest point, the Babusar Pass, at 4,145 meters. Further north from from Babusar Pass, a jeep track leads to Chilas, which is now on Karakoram Highway (the road that connects Islamabad to Xinjiang province of China via Gilgit, Hunza and Khunjerab Pass). Before Karakoram Highway was opened in 1978, the only road access to Gilgit was through Kaghan Valley.

Naran is the best base for treks and walks in the valley. There are some options for accommodation here and some restaurants. Naran is best reached by jeep from Balakot some 200 km north of RawalPindi / Islamabad.

The best time to visit Kaghan is in summer months (May to September). From the middle of July up to the end of September, the road beyond Naran, snow-bound throughout the winter, is open right up to Babusar Pass. Movement may be restricted during the monsoon season due to heavy rains and landslides.

In summer it is possible to continue to Gilgit Valley - one hell of a trip with incredible views - but roads are not always in tiptop condition so it may involve some hard work to get to the other site of the mountains.

If you have visited pakistan When ever you hear about the name of this country . something will come into your mind about this country its loving and friendly people, its culture ,its beautiful plains , its beautiful valleys which are piece of heaven on earth having one of the world’s higest peak like K2 also known as Mount Godwin Austen which is 2nd higest peak after Mount everest . pakistan got huge glaciers on its northern side where karakoram , hindukash and himalayas ranges are located . country is having population of 180 million is the 6th most populous country in world , but after incident of 911 conditions of this region changes dramatically war on terror started in afghanistan which was always targeted by the super powers in past. Al qaida and taliban extremists which were hero’s of cold war time when russians attacked afghanistan now these hero’s became terrorists for them who know’s who did 911 incident but people around world believes on the media what ever media shows people will believe it . To eliminate these Talibans americans demanded for help by pakistan, this was the worst decision of the history of pakistan which turned pakistan into front line state in WAR ON TERROR which destroyed pakistan’s economy thousands of people have been killed and hundreds of pakistan army soldiers also died in operations against these extremists , bomb blasts and terrorism became regular incidents here now , image of my mother land around the world is now of a terrorist state producing terrorists , now it is not known for its beautiful valleys , plains , highest peaks, culture and loving people but a bad image of terrorist is given to it . why people around the world forgetting the sacrifice of thousands of pakistani people for this War on Terror ??? western Media and India media just blames but don’t appreciate its efforts against terrorism they don’t leave any chance to destroy image of pakistan . well that is a separate story but purpose of my blog is to show the real face of pakistan which is hidden from the people around the world i hope you guys will like my effort .
